Trouble-shooting on Site

Before you go:

• Get as much information as possible:
What actually happens?
When and how often?
What’s been done so far?

Exactly what sort of Units - Serial number and issue?

• Now ask around to see if the problem is known elsewhere. Find out
about the site and process and any special problems.

• Any special requirements on site?
Can you get at the units easily?
Can you run, stop and isolate then without causing
process or production problems?
Can you repeat the fault easily and conveniently?

• Decide what to take:

Instruments
Digital storage Oscilloscope, battery powered if possible with
printer or disk storage.
Logical triggering equipment if needed. E.g.. LOGO
High frequency Current clamp to suit ‘scope.
OPm, OPm2

Tools.
A multimeter, an AC/DC tongtester,a screw driver
set,a LN key set,a laptop ( not required if customer has
computer with CD drive ). The Prime requirement for this
PC is as per this attachment.

NOTE:-

If you don’t take the correct equipment, you won’t fix the problem and your
journey will be wasted!
The Customer will be angry and so will your boss!
Hire the equipment if necessary; then buy the kit you find most useful.
